87% of women over 65 years have a chronic disease.
This statistic shocked me when I read it.
Does this surprise you?
It’s featured in the Australian Government Women’s Health Strategy.
It’s a wakeup call to all of us (and especially health professionals) about the burden of chronic disease for post-menopausal women.
I really want to do all I can to be in the 13% and more importantly play my part in helping other women to optimise their health so that we can bring this terribly sad statistic down, and all have a better quality of life, free from preventable disease as we grow older.
I hope you’ll join me in doing what you can to make chronic disease in women over 65 drop way below 87%.
Move more. Eat well. Exercise. Minimise stress. Aim to get good quality sleep. And be connected to a community where you can thrive.
I am a big fan of women supporting women and hope that together we can support each other to make healthy choices and prioritise our health.
I’d love to hear your thoughts …
